I had the pleasure of working with Alan Larsen Films at Tori and Aaron's wedding in November 2011.

These video's of the Wedding (below) brought so many tears to my eyes. Truth be told, I fall in love with most of my couples. However, Tori and Aaron are so special. They are such a gorgeous God-fearing couple and Alan captured them perfectly. I know you will see why I was crying when you watch these films.

Take my advice, don't pass on the filming of your wedding day! I have watched my own video countless times - many with my own Children. To have those moments preserved and see the happiness and love all around is absolutely priceless.

Tropical Save The Date

I just finished these very cool Save The Date invitations for a couple getting married in June on a Yacht out of Newport Beach. I used Envelopment's 4x8 Abaca pattern cut stock with a printed layer of Ecru Micah. I pulled the Abaca leaf pattern to flank both sides of the wording. Lori also wanted a pop of blue (her wedding color), so we used a Zircon blue envelope and matched the LOVE and names to that color.

Better Late Than Never?

Sometimes life throws you a curve ball. My family and I lost a great man this past December. Needless to say, it has been a hard month and a half and I am just now getting back into the swing. I am hoping that wishing you all a Happy New Year will be accepted and come to you "better late than never".

Custom Wedding Invitations {Just Finished}

I just finished these gorgeous (if I do say so myself) invitations for a couple getting married at Summit House in Fullerton. While the color scheme of black, white and hot pink is not traditional by any means, I was still able to put my classic twist on it. This is an Envelopments 5x7 Signature pocketfold with black satin ribbon around the inside layers, directions and RSVP inserts, and cutom monogram on the front with Rose crystal detail. What I really love is that the envelopes (both RSVP and Mailing) are hot pink to match the border!

{Day # 30} WHAT NOW?

Hi Friends! I am apologize for the lack of blogging. This past month seemed to fly by so quickly -with my daughter home from school, vacation and strep throat {yuck} for myself and my husband being sick. Well, I could go on and on. BUT...here is the final day of my 30 day blog challenge!

Day # 30{Wedding Planning is over, WHAT NOW?}

Can you believe it is over? In the blink of an eye, all of the planning for that one special day ends. But you are left with such wonderful memories and now you have your new life to start!

Here are my suggestions on what to do now...

Enjoy your Honeymoon! Those are memories and times you won't get to experience again.

{Day # 29} - Wedding Menu

{Sit-Down Dinner}

Who should choose it: Couples celebrating at a catering facility, club, or ballroom, as well as oenophiles who want to pair each course with wine.

Who should avoid it: Party animals. Dinners take time―spent eating, not dancing or clinking glasses with anyone beyond your table.

What to ask: The real price difference between seated dinners and buffets. You may assume plated dinners are pricier, but often they are not, because the caterer knows exactly how much food to order and prepare, whereas buffets have to accommodate multiple trippers.

{Buffets}

Who should choose it: Those who want to offer several entrées. Planning a day wedding? Brunch dishes like muffins and fruit platters look lovely on a buffet, and omelets can be made to order.

Who should avoid it: Couples with a 100-plus guest list (lines will form).

What to ask: How long the food will sit out. Typically, buffets have a shelf life of about 2 to 2½ hours―for both taste and health reasons. Also ask how the wait staff will direct buffet traffic (it's best to invite tables to head to the buffet one at a time) and clear dirty plates.

{Cocktail Party}

Who should choose it: Duos on a budget. You can offer hors d'oeuvres for less money than a sit-down meal. (Just be sure to keep the party under three hours. If you go longer, the cost difference between the two parties is negligible.) This may also appeal to couples with a 300-plus guest list and second-time-arounders.

Who should avoid it: Brides seeking the spotlight. Cocktail parties tend to skip introductions of the couple, first dances, and dances with parents.

What to ask: The best time to schedule it. An 8 p.m. reception clues in guests to grab a bite before, whereas a 5 p.m. start time signals supper.

{Casual Barbeque}

Who should choose it: Couples with close-knit friends and families who would enjoy the informality of a backyard, a barn, or a park wedding.

Who should avoid it: Control freaks. If your friends are firing up the park grill themselves, burgers may be burned, food may go cold, and wayward Frisbees might come your way. You could hire a caterer, but staff may be trampling through your kitchen if you host the barbecue at your home.

What to ask: Will the caterer have to bring in a cook tent? Even if you have access to a great gourmet kitchen, it might not be up to catering standards.

{10 Ways to Make Your Wedding Reception Menu Memorable}

1. {Dream Up a Theme}

One of the most fun (and often easiest) parts of developing a theme wedding is deciding the menu. From a traditional New England clambake to a spicy Southern barbecue, theme-wedding menus create a fun, exciting, and memorable event. It might even be the way you eat the food that stays in your guests' minds -- cracking crabs at a Maryland riverside wedding, nibbling satay at a Thai-inspired city garden reception, or roasting marshmallows over the flaming bonfire at a wedding "campsite." See real casual, elegant weddings.

2. {Go Regional}

There are many people who take culinary vacations, traveling through countries in search of the local fare. Turn your wedding reception into its own culinary vacation by creating a menu featuring regional specialties. It may be foie gras from the Hudson Valley, spicy chicken wings in Buffalo, or even the largest cheese spread ever seen in Wisconsin.

3. {That's Entertainment}

Who said that food only pleases the palate? You can devise a wedding menu where the food preparation is as flavorful as the food itself. Consider a sushi bar complete with professional sushi chef -- the performance of slicing and rolling turns simple ingredients into works of art right before your guests' eyes. Or perhaps French chefs donned in aprons and hats will create flaming crepes tableside. Find a wedding caterer who can pull it off!

4. {All in the Family}

Something in between a sit-down meal and a buffet, family style offers a natural way to get tables of guests talking while creating a very festive and homey atmosphere. Each dish is delivered to the center of the table and guests pass them politely (or grab and hoard, depending on your family). Italian food might be an obvious choice, but Asian, Mexican, and Indian cuisines work well here too.

5. {That's So You!}

The wedding day is all about the bride and the groom, so why not plan a menu that has special meaning to the two of you? Perhaps your first date was at a baseball game -- why not serve hot dogs? Or maybe the two of you love to fly fish -- highlight freshwater fish on the menu. Or he proposed over a romantic picnic lunch -- recreate the magic by recreating the meal. When your guests think about what they ate, they will automatically think about the couple of honor.

6. {Presenting...}

The eyes have it -- when it comes to remembering things, that is. Your guests will very likely recall a fabulous-looking buffet table before they remember what foods it featured. Be creative -- instead of serving soup in a bowl, have it ladled into a hollowed-out acorn squash. Or have asparagus tied up like a present with leek leaves. You could even serve coconut shrimp inside a coconut and garnish with a tropical flower.

7. {Less is More}

Sometimes the simplest foods presented in an elegant, bountiful manner have a more memorable effect than a wide variety of offerings. Colin Cowie offers this advice in his book For The Bride: "You can make a statement of style with one or two spectacular dishes. For example, instead of having ten different tray-passed appetizers during the cocktail hour, serve mountains of jumbo shrimp or sliced smoked salmon." Remember, KISS -- keep it simple, sweetie.

8. {Ride with a Trend}

Trends come and go and if you can jump on one before it's passé, all the more power to you. Ask your caterer what's up and coming. Perhaps she's got some unusual idea that will make the kind of memorable statement you're looking for. It might be something as homey/funky as a mashed potato bar, complete with your choice of spuds and toppings, presented in a martini glass. Or maybe a true Belgian treat -- pomme frittes served with the traditional mayonnaise in paper cones. Just remember -- they're trends, so plan accordingly if you're setting up your wedding menu a year in advance.

9. {A Honeymoon Preview}

Don't worry-we're not suggesting anything X-rated here! Just that you consider planning a menu based on your honeymoon spot. If you're off to Venice, serve a spread one could imagine eating in a gondola. Or if Hawaii's your destination, feature luau fare (without the flame-eaters) -- perhaps even the spit-roasted pig. Maybe it's Japan where you'll be spending the week -- how about a Tepanyaki station (Japanese barbecue), where guests choose raw meats, shrimp, veggies, noodles, and sauces and watch it get stir-fried. Get honeymoon ideas, if you're not sure where you're off to.

10. {Five-Star Elegance}

If dining out in the fanciest of restaurants is your idea of luxury and you happen to have a lot of dough, treat you and your guests to gourmet, white-glove-service dinner. Plan a multi-course meal, complete with a refreshing intermezzo (with hot lemon-scented towels after the fish course, of course). You can choose from French or Russian service: With French, the waiters prepare food on stands set up next to the table and then serve individual plates; Russian service features white-gloved waiters who carry each course on a large tray and serve guests directly from it. For that added touch, offer a different complementary wine with each course.

{Day # 28} Wedding Speech Etiquette

At weddings where Tradition still resonates the most, the expected toasts are to be given from the Best Man, Maid of Honor and Father of the Bride. The Father of the Bride will go last so he can announce the commencement of activities and blessing of the food (or hand off the microphone to the person whom will do the blessing).

Besides making the toast heartfelt and keeping it (reasonably) clean, guests should follow the guidelines below.

Etiquette from Southern Living regarding Toasts at Weddings:

Giving a Wedding Toast
Rule #1: Be brief
It's best to stay under two or three minutes.

Rule #2: Rehearse
Sometimes even spontaneity requires a little forethought. Practice out loud in the mirror a few times.

Rule #3: Get (and keep) the Crowd's Attention
Avoid tapping your glass; simply stand and speak loudly and clearly.

Receiving a Wedding Toast
Rule #4: Don't Drink To Yourself
Avoid raising your glass, and remain seated when the toast is offered to you.

Wedding Toast Rules for Guests
Rule #5: Let the Host Toast First
Champagne glasses on the table indicate toasts will be made, usually with the dessert course.

Rule #6: Never Refuse to Participate
If you're a nondrinker, it is courteous to raise an empty glass, rather than none at all. If you're nervous about public speaking, have a couple of short toasts committed to memory in case you're unexpectedly called upon.

{Day #27} Thank You, Merci, Dankie, Grazie

Sending a Thank You note is important! It lets your guest know that you appreciate not only their gift, but the time and effort they spent in picking it out and also sharing your special day with you.

Etiquette says you have NO LONGER than 3 months to mail your Wedding Gift thank you notes out. Ideally, you will do them within 2-4 weeks of returning from your honeymoon! For Engagement parties, Bridal Showers and Pre-Wedding gifts you have 1-2 weeks to get those notes outs.

And wouldn't it be so nice to send those Thank You notes that match YOUR wedding ensemble and leave your day complete in your guests mind? Thank You Notes are one of my favorite things to create because I know that so many good thoughts will be written inside.

{Day #26} Change my Name, Change my Name

To change your name or not to change your name, that is the question. Before you decide, read up on all of the options and learn what you need to do to make it legal.

Reasons to Change Your Name

Let's face it: The evolution of women's roles aside, many traditionalists still expect married couples to have the same last name. So, at least convenience-wise, taking his name will make your life easier, especially if you have children. You won't have to explain to that perfectly annoying stranger at the kids' school that you two really are Beth and Sam's parents -- and you are married -- even though your names are completely different. Another potential upside of taking his name: It might be better than yours. If your family stubbornly hung on to Skunkowitz for generations -- or your parents thought it would be cute to name you Jackie Mackey -- this is your opportunity for an upgrade. Other pluses: no arguments over painting the mailbox, easier monograms, and less complicated dinner reservations. Plus, it's kind of nice sharing a name with the man you love. There's something very "connecting" about it.

Reasons to Resist Changing Your Name

These days it's perfectly acceptable for a woman to keep her own name. After all, you've had your name your whole life, and, if you're like most people, it's pretty much your identity. Taking his name may feel like you're losing you -- as well as perhaps being unnecessary, overly traditional, and even sexist. The change may also mean people you've known throughout your life won't recognize your name or know how to find you -- a good or bad thing, depending on who they are. Perhaps professionally you have made a name for yourself, and you sure do like the way it sounds when your assistant answers the phone "Ms. Schmidt's office."

How to Change Your Name

If you've decided to change your name, after the wedding it's time to make it official. (By the way: Contrary to popular belief, obtaining a marriage license that uses your new last name does not automatically mean you've changed it.) Start with your Social Security card and driver's license: Without these, you won't get very far down the list of other important changes. Here's a list of four basic steps to new-name bliss.

1. Get Proof
Arm yourself with a certified marriage license -- be sure it has a raised seal, which means it's authentic. Call the office where your license was filed to get copies if they aren't automatically sent to you.

2. Set Social Security Straight
Contact the Social Security Administration at (800) 772-1213; an automated system will talk you through the name change process. Your new card will be free -- if you're contacted by a company that claims to do this for a fee, don't buy it. These companies have nothing to do with the SSA and should be reported to authorities.

3. Motor on Down to the DMV
Visit the Department of Motor Vehicles, which requires you to make a personal appearance (read: wait in line). Bring a book to read and every form of identification you can lay your hands on. No matter what, do not forget your certified marriage license.

4. Fill in the Blanks
Once you have a social security card and driver's license in your married name, other changes should be fairly easy. Some institutions only require a phone call; others may ask for a copy of your marriage certificate or social security card. Be sure to notify:

Friends and family

Employers/payroll

Post office

Phone company and other utilities

Banks and other financial institutions

Credit card companies

Schools and alumni associations

Voter registration

And don't forget to get your new name on these documents as well:

Passport (Do not do this before the wedding -- your passport name must match the name on your ticket and all other travel documents! It's easier to take your honeymoon with your maiden name.)

Mortgages and leases

Wills

Insurance policies

{Day # 25} License to Wed

Obtaining your {marriage license} can very well be one of the easiest things you have to arrange in your planning process. Remember to keep in mind...

· Laws vary by State and Country

· It is NOT proof of your marriage

· You can't get married without one

· You both need to be present to obtain

· You will need to provide valid photo ID and a birth certificate

· It is only valid within the state you got it

· They do expire, so get married before it does so!

· There is a fee when applying

· If you are getting married for the 2nd time, you might need to provide proof of dissolution.

{Day # 24} Practice Makes Perfect - Rehearsal Dinner Do's and Don'ts

The purpose of the Rehearsal dinner is to properly thank everyone involved in planning your wedding. Mainly, your wedding party and immediate family. Traditionally the Groom's parents will host the dinner and it is somewhere where that will provide little effort or clean (there will be enough the next day)! It is a time to enjoy yourselves, however don't go overboard on the fun and remember to relax and get a good night's sleep! Here are a list of Do's and Don'ts related to the Rehearsal Dinner...

{DO}

Make life easy on yourself. Plan the dinner somewhere there is little clean up.

Plan for some downtime and make it early enough to get a good night's sleep.

Be creative and have a fun theme.

Invite all your wedding party and any out of state guests who have traveled just for your wedding.

Have a different menu than will be offered at your wedding.

Make sure to thank the people that got you there.

{DON'T}

Over do it with the alcohol.

Forget about the Toasts. This is a nice time for you as the couple to thank everyone.

Forget about the gift giving (parents and bridal party).

Forget to take LOTS of pictures.

{Day # 23} Just You & I - Keeping Weddings Small

One of the biggest trends is weddings right now is small guest lists and here are 10 of the main reasons why...

{Rush Order} You now have the option to get married in a shorter amount of time. With fewer people and details to oblige you can cut down the timeline.

{Spare Feelings} You will only be surrounded by those people that love you. You have an easy out to tell people that they are unfortunately not invited.

{Lavish Honeymoon} You are saving money with fewer guests and can put that toward the honeymoon of your dreams.

{Destination Wedding} You now have the option for a Destination Wedding with only close family and friends.

{A Moment Alone with Your Spouse} Stop. Soak it in. It’s not something many couples get to do on their wedding day because of stress, obligatory conversations and details they have to manage and take care off.

{No Small Talk} With smaller guests lists your guests will feel at home and have more time to mingle. You as well won't have to catch up with that Facebook friend.

{Keepsake Photos} With too many guests it can be hard to gather together to get keepsake photos.

{Go Green} There will be less waste period in smaller weddings. Less paper, less food, less trinket favors, etc.

{Day # 22} Honoring Family/Friends No Longer With Us

As your wedding approaches, it is only natural to think of those who couldn't be there. There are simple things you can do to honor those who have passed. But keep the remembrance upbeat because their death should not be dwelled upon on your day of celebration and happiness.

1. Have their favorite song played

2. Light a candle

3. Take your bouquet to the grave site after the ceremony

4. Have a memorial charm attached to your bouquet

5. Put the loved ones pictures on a ceremony table

6. Memorial candle engraved or floating candles

7. Include their favorite flower in your bouquet

8. Leave an empty chair where your Mother/Father would be and stop to place a flower on that chair as you walk down the aisle

9. Honor these people in your program

10. Create a unity bouquet with a flower for each person that has passed

11. Have a picture of that loved one wrapped in the stem of your bouquet

12. Picture locket attached to bouquet

13. Butterfly or dove release

14. Wedding invitation wording - Daughter of "the late"

15. Prayer of the Faithful

16. Donation box for the charity of which that person's ailment was

Since the Wedding Invtation is your guest's first glimpse into your event, you want it to speak volumes about your style. Your wedding is unique and your Invitations should be too! With all the variations, we are sure to create the perfect invitation to fit your style and needs.

The wording of a formal wedding invitation follows a specific style that celebrates all parties involved while stating the details of the day (the hosts, the hosts relationship to the bride, the bride's full name, the grooms full name, the day, month and year, and the location and reception information.

{Day # 20} Environmentally Friendly Weddings

What’s the hottest color for weddings? Green. Green weddings, which only a few years ago were on the fringe, have gone mainstream. Planning a socially- and environmentally-friendly wedding is a nice idea and it’s never been easier to create a beautiful and eco-friendly wedding.

Here are some of the best ways to give Mother Earth a starring role at your nuptials:

{Go Small} The fewer guests you have, the less fossil fuels that will be used. You’ll also consume less, and create less garbage. Having a small guest list will also give you more choice of venues. Why not have your small wedding at a designated green inn or have a restaurant reception at a restaurant that serves local food?

{Buy Consumable Favors} Consumable favors are fun, fabulous and earth friendly. Some suggestions include DIY favors such as homemade jam, chocolate, cookies, candy, free-trade coffee, beeswax candles, handmade soap or lotion. If you still want to take the non-consumable route, what about cloth shopping bags, reusable produce bags, or other products that will help your guests pursue an eco-friendly lifestyle? Don’t forget to include information about local shops that carry eco-friendly products along with your favors.

{Be a ‘Locavore’} Choose a caterer or restaurant that sources ingredients locally. Buying local ingredients supports your area farmers, as well as decreases your carbon imprint. Even better, choose locally sourced organic foods, and offer vegetarian choices for your meat-free guests.

{Select a Worthy Venue} Consider having your wedding in a local garden, museum or historic building. These are often run by socially conscious nonprofits, so your rental fee will support a good cause. {Paris}

The City of Light tops the list of most romantic cities, and for good reason. A day spent sipping cafe au lait in a tiny side street bistro, window shopping along the ritzy Champs Elysees, and visiting Sacre-Coeur Basilica for a jaw-dropping view of the city, and all the while eyeing the Eiffel Tower, is enough to make any pair of honeymooners feel like they're floating on air. Pack your itinerary with culture and take in modern art at the Centre Pompidou and classic masterpieces at the Louvre. Spend a leisurely evening people-watching and drinking champagne.
Romantic Must-do Take a stroll along the Seine (the river that cuts through Paris) and admire the scene along the left and right banks. {Venice}

Romantic Must-do There's no better way to see Venice than to wander because you can't get lost. Start at Piazza San Marco and see where the side streets take you. Be sure to stop in a bacaro (a Venetian wine bar) for a glass of Chianti in the afternoon.

{Rome + Florence}

Two more Italian cities finished neck and neck in our poll, each with its own reasons to rank among the world's most romantic cities. Rome has a more energetic feel, and you can spend each day admiring monuments like the Colosseum and St. Peter's Basilica. The ambience in Florence is all about the Renaissance, so soak in the art of Michelangelo and Botticelli, and marvel at the dome in the Duomo Cathedral.
Romantic Must-do In Rome, sample gelato at Il Gelato di San Crispino and visit some of the city's famous fountains at night. If the Trevi Fountain is too crowded, head to the Fountain of the Four Rivers at Piazza Navona (but throw a coin and make a wish at each). What do brides choose as the most romantic city in the United States? None other than New York. There are countless places to have a romantic moment in the city -- a picnic in Central Park, a walk around The Cloisters museum, or a candlelit dinner at One if by Land, Two if by Sea in the West Village. Tourist traps like Times Square are worth a visit if you've never been, but you'll probably have a better time strolling along the side streets of SoHo or relaxing on the lawn amid the skyscrapers in Bryant Park.
Romantic Must-do Walk from Manhattan into Brooklyn across the Brooklyn Bridge (stop at Grimaldi's for pizza), and then along the promenade for an amazing city view.

{Honolulu}

The islands of Hawaii are known for sparkling water, picturesque beaches, and idyllic sunsets. And don't forget to wander around the cool shops and cafes on Las Ramblas, one of Barcelona's most famous and lively streets.

{San Francisco}

Honeymoon in San Francisco and you're practically guaranteed fine food and a laidback metropolitan vibe. And don't forget to try a traditional weiner schnitzel, a thinly sliced piece of breaded veal.
Romantic Must-do You can't visit Mozart's hometown without seeing an orchestra. Even if you're not into classical music, a performance by the Vienna Philharmonic can be overwhelmingly beautiful.

London is the perfect honeymoon destination for travelers who want the culture of Europe with the convenience of an English-speaking country. There's lots to see in the city's museums (trips to the Victoria & Albert and Tate Modern are a must), and if you're there in season, see a play at Shakespeare's Globe Theater. There's no roof and the space in front of the stage is standing room only. After the performance find a bench along the Thames River (preferably one with a view of St. Paul's Cathedral) and simply enjoy being newlyweds.

Everyone enjoys a good love story that beats the odds, well us women do, right?

The most inspiring love story in my life is that of my parents. They met in High School while my Dad played in a band with my Mom's brother. My Grandfather, being the strict Italian he was, didn't like my Dad's long hair and him in general, so he kicked my Mom out of the house! She had to live at the YMCA. My parents still got married, my Dad joined the Army and they had their first son...My Grandpa and Dad became best of friends, but what at trying time it was for them! They lived in a trailer on the Army base in Alabama and my Dad missed the first year of my Brother's life being away serving our Country in Vietnam. But through it all they stuck together and their love has gotten them through 4 kids, 9 grand kids and 43 years of marriage! My, how far they have come and the stories they have to share. They are amazing role models, parents and friends!

{Day # 17} - Incorporating your Furry Family

Believe it or not, there are some tasteful ways to incorporate your furry family into your wedding. The most common way is to have your dog be the ring bearer with a someone walking them down the aisle on a lease (please use fake rings!).

Other ideas include: taking engagement pictures with your furry family and displaying them at the ceremony/reception, having your table numbers include pictures of your pets, having a grooms cake made in resemblance to your pet, entering or exiting on horseback, having your pet be the best man/maid of honor or just be present at the ceremony.

Having your dogs part of the wedding is becoming so popular that there are many sites dedicated to Dog Formal Wear. You can also have your florist make a flower collar or decorate a wagon that will be pulled. All in all, remember to keep it classy and make sure your pet will be well behaved and quiet during the ceremony.

{Day # 16} Creating NEW Traditions

Today's Brides are creating new wedding traditions that allow them to showcase their lifestyle, individual preferences, and unique interests!

Tradition # 1: Matching formal {Attire}

Modern: Bridesmaids are often allowed to pick out their own dresses that are flattering to them. For themselves, many brides are opting for colorful shoes as their 'something blue' or just to add a flair. Those daring enough might even choose a non-white wedding gown. Instead of a veil, Brides are using unique flowers, feathers or clips. And many brides are going with themed attire such as the 1920s or 1950s.

Tradition # 2: Formal {Reception} dinner with typical customs

Modern: Couples are becoming creative in the spaces they choose to get married in. Loft spaces, old factories/warehouses, museums and antique stores are all becoming popular. Instead of the formal dinner, many are incorporating a party style into their reception complete with festive party themes.

Tradition # 3: {Bouquet and Garter}

Modern: The anniversary dance or generations dance are both replacing the traditional bouquet and garter toss. These dances honor either the oldest guest or the couple who have been married the longest and they are handed the give-away bouquet.

Tradition # 4 {Maid of Honor and Best Man}

Modern: Gender bending rituals are now taking place with the Man of Honor and the Best Woman. If you have a best friend of the opposite sex, by all means have them stand up for you.

Tradition # 5: Only your {Culture}

Modern: Couples these days come from diverse backgrounds and faiths, so it is fairly common to see traditions from different cultures or religions being combined. However, many Brides see something they like at a friend's wedding and decide to incorporate and borrow that tradition for her day.

Tradition # 6: {Not seeing each other} before the ceremony

Modern: Many couples are creating a pre ceremony "first look". This way they can take photos before hand and often feel more comfortable and relaxed throughout the day.

Tradition # 7: {Officiant}

Modern: Another growing trend is to ask someone other than a clergyman to officiate your day. All they have to do is register online and have the official certificate mailed to them. An ideal officiant is someone who is important to the bride and groom, but is articulate and capable of handling such an important event.

Tradition # 8: Alternative {Registry}

Modern: If you have lived on your own or together for quite some time and feel you already have all of the necessary household items, then you can opt for a honeymoon registry or a registry to your favorite charitable cause. But keep in mind that not everyone is comfortable with these alternative registries. It is a good idea to create just one traditional registry to placate those guests.

Tradition # 9: Leaving the {Reception}

Modern: For some time the tradition of the Bride and Groom leaving the reception early has been refuted. Brides and Grooms want to celebrate the day with their close family and friends and stay until the very end. Choose to have a special farewell after the night is over, like a sparkler send-off.

Tradition # 10: {Name Change}

Modern: Many Brides today are torn as to whether or not to change their last name. It is part of their identity and they have had it their whole life. Another option is to blend your two last names. Keep your last name as your middle name, or hyphenate the two.

The Bouquet Toss. The Garter. The Toasts. These are rituals that brides can expect in the US. What would your day be like if you weren't in America? The marriage customs from around the world are presented below. Adapt the best parts to add international flair to your day while honoring your culture and that of your significant other.

{Africa}
• The bride wears a veil made of plaited hair which represents reserve.
• The people present wear traditional regional costumes.
• Wine is poured on the land as a dedication to the gods.
• The couple jumps above a brush covered with flowers, which symbolizes the starting of domestic life.

{Arabia}

• The bride wears an elaborate veil and gets her hands and feet decorated with a drawing made with alhea (henna).
• During the reception, men and women stay separated.

• The cake is made of various fruits and steeped in rum.

• Beer, wine and marzipan are served.
• The bride is taken to the church in a carriage pulled by black horses.
• On the day of the wedding, the guests go to couple's house.

{Greece}
• Almonds covered with caramel (fertility symbols) wrapped in tulle are distributed among the assistants.
• In the reception a dance with handkerchiefs (Kaslamantiano) is enjoyed by all while stuffed grape leaves, lamb skewers, and wine are served.
• During the ceremony the groom is asked to honour the bride and she slightly touches him to put emphasis.

{Italy}
• Sugared Almonds covered with caramel symbolize the joys and sadness of marriage.
• In the reception, everyone enjoys the traditional dance called the "Tarantella."

• Weddings kick off on Sunday morning (never a Friday or Tuesday) and Saturday weddings are reserved for widows marrying the second time.

{Mexico}
• Weddings take place around 9 in the evening
• Traditional Flamanco dress
• Following the vows, the priest wraps a large lasso or rosary around the couple.

{Japan}
• The bride wears an elaborate white silk dress, various adornments, and a special wig.
• In the reception there's a dedication and some speeches, and the honored guests tell stories about the couple.
• Kiogashi (colored sweets with flower shape), indicate that this is also a party.
• Red is the funny and lucky colour.

{Korea}
• In an private ceremony, the groom's family welcomes the bride.
• The bride wears a multicolored silk dress with white sleeves and a black silk crown and she is made up with red points on her cheeks to scare away bad spirits.

{Scotland}
• The bagpipe is played during the parade
• The groom wears his traditional kilt.

{The Neverlands}
• The couple plant Lilly of the Valley seed in their garden after the wedding. When the plants flower up every year, love is seen as being renewed.

{Russia}
• After the dedication, cups are thrown to the floor. Their breaking means happiness.
• The bride and groom usually tie a doll to the wedding car or carriage if they wish their first child to be a girl, and a teddy bear if they want a boy.

Planning your big wedding on a tiny budget DOES NOT mean sacrificing your taste and personal style! All you need to do is prioritize and make some concessions on smaller details or be willing do DIY. Here is the biggest budget cutting advice:

{Dates} Schedule your wedding for the off season. (January, February, March and November). For further discounts, be willing to host your wedding on a Friday or a Sunday. You will get better deals on nearly every wedding service if you schedule during the off season. Also, avoid on or near holidays (late November through December when Hotels are busy with holiday parties).

{Time} Be creative with your timing. Host a morning brunch early in the day, a picnic style lunch or cocktails and appetizers in the early evening.

{Location} Think about more non-traditional wedding locations for lower costs. How about a park, public garden, historic building, museum, or backyard?

{Gown} Bridal gowns aren't the only white dresses out there. It may be that the dress for you is amongst the women's evening wear section of the department store.

{Decor} Spend your money on the things people will see the most of throughout the event. Your guests will notice the bouquets more than the pew flowers. They will notice your centerpieces more than the backs of the ceremony chairs being decorated or the extra flowers on the cake. Candles will add extra drama with little cost so, alternate your centerpieces to save money. Tiny white twinkle lights also add a special touch to the ambiance without breaking the bank. Have fewer larger tables to save on linens and centerpieces. But your most strategic way to spend money on decor is to pick a location that needs little or no embellishment like a garden in bloom or scenic beach..

{Flowers} Use only flowers that are "in-season" and locally available for your wedding. Hydrangeas are the biggest in bloom and a beautiful flower. Carnations are by far the cheapest, so intersperse those in your bouquets and centerpieces.

{Theme} Picking a theme for your wedding reception can be a great way to cut costs and hide what isn't included. Have a Mexican Fiesta: the food will be cheaper and you can limit the bar to only Mexican imported beer and margaritas. Serve a family style Italian banquet and limit the beverages to red and white wine with dinner and espresso with desert. Follow your barefoot beach wedding with bonfire grilled chicken and buckets of beer and sangria. The possibilities are all there, just think outside of the box!

{Talents} Harness the talents of your family and friends. You may have a classic car in the family that can serve as your limo or a graphics wiz that can help with your invitations and programs. Let everyone know you are looking for ways to save money and they may offer their services to help.

{Guest List} Unfortunately, one of the major ways to save money is to limit your guest list. You cut the cost down on virtually everything...food, alcohol, flowers, favors, etc.

{Resources} Consult websites and all of the resources available to you like Wedding Channel and The Knot. Make sure to stay organized and keep track of your budget to plan and control costs. If you have your budget in mind, there will always be a way to save money without sacrificing your style.

Day # 8 - Picture Perfect {Capturing the Memories}

Your wedding photographs are the memories tying you to your wedding day forever. You want to make sure you make the best decision in picking your professional photographer. Browse photographers websites and set up interviews to find out pricing details and see their portfolio. You should pick the photographer that has the best personality with the best work and will provide you a great experience as well as lasting photographers of wonderful memories.

My suggestion is to make sure you feel comfortable with your photographer on a personal level, and that their style of photography meshes well with your own wedding day style. Book an engagement session in order to get yourself comfortable in front of the camera with your photographer. Make sure at least 2 photographers will be on site during your wedding day and that you communicate any special memories you want captured (i.e. pictures with elderly family members). Also, have a wedding coordinator help keep your photographers on track time-wise (kindly, of course!) in order to keep your day running smoothly.

{Day #7} Themed Parties

I am a themer (not a word, I know). I theme Christmas presents for my family, Halloween costumes, Family pictures, Easter baskets, you name it! A good themed party is one of my all time favorite things to plan. What a theme does is give you an overall direction of where your party should go and decision making more manageable. And believe me, life is so much easier when you have direction to follow!

The first step is to choose a theme. A theme will allow for a consistent overall look and feel of the party. An example of a theme is Moulin Rouge. Sometimes themes are just the colors you choose, so don't get bogged down if you can't come up with a name. Your wedding can even have a theme (I wanted mine to be Vintage Romance). After you have picked your theme, choose a color palette that coordinates with that theme. A Moulin Rouge party will have a red-and-black palette, reminiscent of the Moulin Rouge in Paris. Invitations, decor, food, music and party favors will feel consistent with the theme. Find decorations inspired by turn-of-the-century Parisian cabaret. Food can be served from a buffet of French delicacies and Champagne, while the Moulin Rouge soundtrack is playing in the background. Guests can receive the Moulin Rouge DVD or CD as a party favor. Be strategic with decor. If your event is at home, ask yourself how you can transform your house to fit the theme. If you are holding your party at a venue, take pictures of the entire room and choose decor that works well with the space. Mix solid colors with your theme so as not to go overboard (for a zebra party, use only accents of zebra print with black, white and hot pink).

{Day 5} Ways for a Stress Free Wedding

Weddings can be very stressful. It’s your “big day,” and there’s a lot of pressure to make everything perfect. But it’s also supposed to be one of the happiest days of your life. Instead of worrying that every last detail works out perfectly, try to relax and enjoy the day. It will go by faster than you know it, and you’ll only be left with the memories.

You do have a choice in the matter. How you approach the wedding planning and the people you work with will decide how your experience goes. Things can and do go wrong, however if you let it ruin the entire process, then you are the one that suffers. Cope with things the best you can and know it will work out in the end.

Here are some ways to help you stay stress-free and relax (as much as you can):

1. {Remember the Reason} why you are doing this in the first place. You are declaring your love in front of your nearest and dearest family and friends and joining with your love for the rest of your life. Is there really anything more important than that?

2. {Have a Good Attitude} It’s true that life is what we make of it. If you go into wedding planning with a negative attitude, then things will go wrong. If you have a positive attitude, things tend to fall into place. A better attitude also makes people want to work with you and do their best for you. Who wants to work with Bridezilla? Remember, your wedding is going to be incredible and beautiful as long as you see it that way. Your guests will also pick up on your feelings, so spread a little happiness and let yourself enjoy the planning, the day and the celebration.

3. {Stay Organized} Creating a binder with all the information related to your planning can help you stay organized. Having timelines and lists can help you to ensure that you are staying on track so you don’t have to worry that you are missing important deadlines. Keep all your notes, swatches, ideas, contracts, to-do lists, and more in the binder.

4. {Set Boundaries} Weddings are an exciting time, and everyone wants to help by offering opinions and advice. This is your wedding. Do what makes you happy and comfortable. Thank your friends and family for their good intentions, but draw firm boundaries for what you will and will not accept. Try to include friends in other ways by asking for help dress shopping or mailing out invitations.

5. {Hire professionals} Don’t want to plan it yourself? Hire a planner! A certified wedding planner will guide you effortlessly through the process by sharing advice and overseeing the details for you. Even if you can’t afford to hire a wedding planner, be sure to hire other professionals for your wedding, including the photographer, caterer and DJ. Don’t trust these tasks to friends or family members. They may be well-meaning (and even offer you a discount), but hiring them can create awkwardness or tension if things don’t go according to plan. 6. {Track your budget} Use a spreadsheet or financial tracking software to log all your wedding-related expenses, so that you know exactly how much you have spent at any given moment. If you need to, keep a separate checking account from which to pay wedding expenses. Of course, before you ever start spending, you should make a clear budget of how much you intend to spend. If you are negative, that negativity will spread and you’ll end up being upset. If you encounter someone who is rude or disrespectful, then walk away and don’t waste any energy on it. Who Pays for What?

The Bride and Groom {and/or Parents} are expected to pay for a Welcome party, rehearsal dinner and morning after brunch.

If they can, the hosts should cover selected activities, transportation to the ceremony and reception, a shuttle to pick up the guests at the airport, attendant hotel rooms, and travel expenses for VIP guests (i.e. elderly grandparents)

The guests are expected to pay for their plane ticket, hotel room, meals/beverages that are not part of the wedding, and any non-wedding related activities.

The attendants are expected to pay for their travel, formal wear, hair/makeup/salon appointments, and any food/drinks that are non-wedding related.

Planning Points

With guests and vendors to coordinate, laws and regulations to abide by, and details to decide -- your destination wedding will require lots of planning. So check these planning points…

1. {LOCATION, LOCATION} First things first, choose the location for your destination wedding. Factors to consider include the expense of the location, the level of prowess needed to navigate local laws and requirements, available activities and amenities for you and your guests (theme parks, sports and recreation, spa services, outdoor activities, shopping), restaurant and accommodation options, and ease of travel to and from your locale.

2. {START DATING} Next is to choose a date for the wedding. How can one truly define what love it? Love lies in your heart. It is an unconditional emotional investment in the other person. It leaves you wanting only the best goodwill for the other; wanting to protect the other from evil and even lay your life on the line for that person.

I believe that love is ever growing and changing. When I met my husband 13 years ago, I loved him as a college friend. He grew to be my FIRST LOVE as a boyfriend and then my Husband. Since those almost 7 years have passed, my love has grown deeper than I could imagine by watching him be the Father he is to my children and the Man he has become.

The definition of love differs from person to person, and there are many types of love based on the object of your affection, be it your parents, your soul-mate, your friend or your child. The first time I looked into both of my children's eyes, I instantly found out how deeply and unconditionally you could care for someone who depends solely on you.

Day 1 - Introduction and Why I became a Planner

I am a 32 year old Wife and Mother of two Angels (well, mostly Angels!), Isabella and Vincent. I am a lover of God, reading, traveling, coffee, reality TV, martinis, musicals, shopping, spending time with my family/friends and just enjoying my children while they are little.

Planning my own happily ever after {my wedding} was the most exciting time of my life. To this day it will remain my favorite wedding, even though styles and trends change over the years, because it was everything I had dreamed about ...

I realize that there are many, many people who think they can become a wedding planner after they have planned their own wedding. I too have been planning since my own wedding in 2004, but in reality, my training and {my passion} began when I was little helping my Mother plan parties and weddings for our friends and family. Seeing the joy it brought my Mother as well as anyone who attended one of her fantastic gatherings laid the path to my future as a Wedding Planner.

Valentine's Day is synonymous with pink and red. Depending on your style, you can go with this traditional palette or do something unexpected. Holiday Cards {You Can Make!}

Add a personal touch to your holiday cards this year by crafting them at home. These cards are so easy to make, even the kids can get in on the fun.

{Vintage Cheer}These stitched cards can be mailed out to friends or used to embellish the top of a present. To make, cut a square of cardstock and lightly sketch a simple holiday design on the front. Use a needle tool to punch holes in the design, then sew through the holes with a needle and yarn. Knot or tape the ends to the back of card and glue or tape your stitched design card onto a folded card as shown.

{On the Dot}This ornament-adorned card makes a perfect holiday greeting and also works great as a party invitation. To make, stamp circle cutouts with your family's initial. Punch a hole through the top of the circle and through the top of a piece of cardstock. Tie the two pieces together with a cheery bow.

{Pretty Pines}Use your favorite scrapbook paper or gift wrap scraps to create this artistic Christmas tree design. Start with a solid-color card as your canvas, and add a vertical strip of brown paper for the tree trunk. Cut a triangle from decorative paper, then cut into horizontal strips. Glue strips, about 1/8 inch apart, above the paper tree trunk. Finish by topping your tree with a bright gold star.

{Stamped & Scalloped Card}To make this pretty patterned card, cut scrapbook paper to desired size and fold in half. Then, glue red scallop-edge paper trim to the lower edge of the card front. Cut a rectangle from red scrapbook paper and a slightly smaller rectangle from white scrapbook paper. Glue the white rectangle to the red rectangle and attach to the card with double-stick foam circles. Finally, stamp Merry Christmas onto rectangle before you mail your greeting.

{Noel Note Card}To make this beautiful card, simply cut solid green scrapbook paper to your desired size and fold in half. Then, cut a panel of patterned scrapbook paper to fit the card front and adhere with double-sided tape. Finish by placing a self-adhesive rhinestone "Noel" embellishment along the panel's bottom edge.

{File Fix}Manilla folders make a great low-cost card base. Decorate your cutout cards with cardstock holly leaves and red buttons for a bit of cheer. Tip: Get shiny leaves by covering green cardstock with dimensional adhesive and letting it dry before cutting the leaves and folding them lengthwise.

{Classic Snowman}Recreate a winter wonderland on the front of a piece of colored cardstock by tearing snow shapes from white paper and gluing the pieces to the card. Add accents to your snowman such as rhinestone buttons and a plaid ribbon scarf.

{Holiday Punch}This layered approach adds whimsy to a simple cardstock design. Simply punch holes in a paper Christmas tree and glue it to a pretty patterned note card.

Fun Stockings {Kids Can Make!}

Get crafty with the kids one weekend and make these fun and festive holiday stockings to hang above the fireplace.

{Striped Stocking}Little kids can easily embellish a plain white canvas stocking by gluing on strips of grosgrain ribbon and rickrack.

{Sock Stockings}Turn knee-high sports socks into personalized stockings for the family. To make, trace a large cardstock tag onto white or light-color felt and cut out. Next, draw each person's initial onto felt, cut out, and glue onto the tag. Attach a bow to the top of the felt tag and hot-glue in place on the stocking. For some sparkle, attach an adhesive-backed rhinestone to each letter.

{Silhouette Stockings}Add a felt cutout of each child's silhouette to the front of their stockings so Santa can divvy up toys and trinkets with ease.

{Sweet Stockings}These candy-swirl stockings will make your mantel look simply scrumptious. To make, cut out two identical stocking shapes from red or green felt. Sew or hot-glue the edges together, leaving the top open. Next, cut four circles from white felt, and 24 thick and 20 thin swirl-shape strips from light green and red felt. For each white circle, alternate six thick swirl strips and five thin swirl strips; secure with glue. Arrange felt candies on stocking, trim where necessary, and sew or hot-glue in place.

{Jeweled Stocking}Glam up your holiday decor with this easy-to-make shimmering stocking. Start by making a stocking out of red and white felt (see previous slide) and attach dazzling snowflake pins.

{Yo-Yo Stocking}Turn fabric scraps into a cheery stocking featuring hand-sewn yo-yos. To make, create your own stocking template from cardstock or cardboard. Arrange bands of fabric on the stocking template until covered completely, then sew together the edges, leaving the top open. To make each yo-yo, cut a circle of fabric and stitch a ¼-inch hem. Insert the needle into hem and push all the way through so the fabric gathers at the center; knot to finish. Repeat to create more yo-yos, then have kids glue them in place on the stocking.

{Shiny Stocking}Make your stockings shine by adding reflective polka dots. Start with a plain red stocking and 10 to 15 round mirrors that measure between ? inch and 2 inches. For each mirror, cut a felt circle that is ? inch bigger in diameter, then remove from the center a circle that is ? inch smaller in diameter than the mirror. Have kids stitch the edges of the felt rings with yarn for a decorative look, then mount on top of mirrors and glue in place on the stocking.

It is very important for my Husband and I to teach our children about counting their blessings and being Thankful {thankful for their faith, family, friends, love and support}. Every night this month at dinner, I have wrote down what each of us are thankful for on a card and hung it up in our kitchen on a rope with clothespins. It has brought much enjoyment: my 5 year old daughter gives her answer thought all day before she settles on one at dinner and we have all taken turns guessing what my almost 2 year old son should be grateful for in his little world!

Here are some more ways you can have fun while teaching your children to be thankful. Get their creative juices flowing while spending quality time together with these easy, Thanksgiving-theme crafts projects.

{3-D Turkey Bag} Kids will love adorning the colorful "feathers" of this brown-bag turkey with all the things they are thankful for.Make It: Start with the turkey's face by folding four punched brown card-stock circles in half and gluing the folds back-to-back to create the fanned head shape. Add an orange card-stock beak, a red card-stock wattle, and two googly eyes for facial features. Then ask your kids to write things they are thankful for on a variety of colored card-stock strips and attach them to the back of the folded-over bag top.

Coil a green chenille stem around your thumb several times, squeeze the coils together, and poke the end into the hole in the pumpkin. Insert a family photo into the coils.

{Sticky Note Door Hanger} Kids can write something they are thankful for -- and change it each day -- on the sticky notes that are attached to the front of this Indian corn door hanger.Make It: Start with an unfinished wooden door hanger, then paint the entire hanger with yellow paint. Then use a flat-head pencil eraser to paint multicolor dots on the hanger for the corn kernels. When the paint is dry, glue a partial stack of sticky notes to the bottom of the hanger. Using your computer, print "Today I am thankful for..." onto white card stock, and glue it to the hanger above the notes. Complete the project with raffia tied to the top of the hanger.

{Hand Tree} You'll cherish this Thanksgiving art project not only for the sentiments your child writes on each leaf, but also because the trunk is made from a tracing of your child's hand.Make It: Trace around your child's hand onto a brown paper grocery sack, then cut it out to create the trunk. Next, run the cutout under water, crumple it up, and let it air-dry. For the leaves, paint several coffee filters with assorted watercolors. When they're dry, use a marker to draw leaf shapes onto the filters and write thankful words inside the shapes (protect your surface from marker bleed-through); cut out the pieces. Finish it up by adhering the trunk and leaves to a card-stock background with a glue stick.

{Sunflower Plant} Transform a paper plate into a blooming sunflower plant filled with black bean "seeds" and card-stock "petals."Make It: Paint a paper plate black, then glue black beans to the center of the dry plate. Download the petal pattern, then use it to cut out enough petals from yellow card stock to fit around the rim of the plate. Have your child think of thankful words and phrases to write onto each petal, then glue the pieces to the rim. Make the stem by painting a paint stir stick from the hardware store with green paint, and embellish it with sticker letters and raffia.

{Jar of Thanks} Have everyone in the family fill a glass jar with daily notes about what they are grateful for. When Thanksgiving Day arrives, turn your collection into a colorful garland to hang over your buffet table.

{Postcard of Thanks} Send a sentiment of thanks to friends and loved ones!Make It: Buy cardstock postcards (or make your own). Cut Thanksgiving imagery or abstract patterns from various colors of construction paper and glue to the back of the cards. Cover collaged side of card with a self-adhesive laminating sheet to protect your collage in the mail. Draw a line down the center of the other side of the card, leaving space to include a message, the recipient's address, and a postage stamp.

Sock Monkey Party

I have always had a deep down love for the classic sock monkey. I heard that my dad enjoyed sock monkeys growing up, so maybe this is where my slight obsession comes from. I think my love for this little icon also carried over to the more updated Julian Monkey from Paul Frank. Both my boys are constantly rockin' the Small Paul line. Needless to say, when I came across an adorable Sock Monkey Party at "We are the New Black", I totally became inspired and created my own inspiration board.

{Decor}I love the color palette of red and aqua for this particular party. Use the iconic sock monkey, or the updated Julian monkey, to create banners, cupcake tags, signs, etc.

{Entertainment} Purchase "blank" sock monkeys and have children decorate with fabric pens, buttons, ribbons, felt, etc., paint monkey faces on children, or have children try to run an obstacle course with a banana under their chin.

{Food} Banana cupcakes, PB&J sandwiches, dried banana chips, and frozen bananas!

{Play Ball}

What better way to honor the World Series, starting today, than a post with a Baseball theme! I am a tried and true Baseball fan, as is my Husband. Had I had the foresight, creativity, and {let's be honest, GUTS}...I would have gone with this fun, yet gorgeous theme for our wedding. Styled by the Amorology Weddings team, this is proof that a wedding can infuse the bride’s and groom’s characters into the day’s design. Because sometimes, you just have to have a little fun… for Josh and Nicole, that meant dedicating their big day to the very thing that brought them together… {BASEBALL}!

Here are all the amazing details brought to life, courtesy of the incredibly talented Heather Balliet, of Amorology Weddings:

While playing college baseball and softball, Josh and Nicole met and fell in love. In their spare time they would travel to new cities, making it a point to visit different ballparks. It seemed only fitting that we shared their love and passion for what brought them together with their guests at their wedding. We chose a palette of wine, soft pink and chocolate brown to work as a backdrop and compliment the ballroom at Estancia. I loved how the curtains at Estancia so perfectly seemed to mimic baseball stitching and diamond fields.

Following a beautiful Catholic ceremony, guests gathered at Estancia for cocktail hour. They were greeted by a display of a baseball bat, mitt and glove that sat upon a bed of peanuts and were asked to leave their autographs. Candy Concession workers tray passed traditional ballpark favorites like peanuts and crackerjacks with custom designed labels by Brightly Designed. We also filled the custom trays that Amorology created with chocolate baseballs, color-coordinated jelly beans and big league chew that were reminiscent of childhood favorites.

In continuing with the baseball feel, guests were escorted to the “Will Call” Table to pick up their tickets and find their seats. Tickets sat in alphabetized boxes of peanuts and indicated which section and seat the guests were to sit in. We specifically created the table names as sections that were displayed on paper baseballs. Each guest also a seat number tied to their chair with ribbon.

Robin Mathis of Twigg Botanicals created centerpieces made up of textured large florals such as dahlias, hydrangea, roses, calla lilies and orchids that sat atop tall glass vases filled with real baseballs. Smaller Trophy vases filled with grass, flowers and baseballs also ran the length of the banquet tables. The flowers really helped pull all of the fun elements together, including the flower girls’ pomander balls of carnations and rosehips that were constructed to replicate the stitching pattern on a baseball!

Mini coke bottles sat at each place setting and added a playful element in addition to the paper pennant flags that sat at each chair. One of the most magical moments of the evening was when the bride and groom were welcomed into the room by all of their guests cheering and waving the pennants that were customized with their names and wedding date. It was such a delightful and warm reception where you truly felt the love for them in the room.

For their favors, we combined the grooms love for morning pancakes with their love for baseball. We gave each guest buttermilk pancake mix with a recipe in a box labeled “hey batter, batter”.

The gorgeous cake sat atop of a custom cake box Amorology designed and built for Nicole and Josh. We incorporated their wine colors and also added a beautiful soft pink ribbon to the cake.

As a nod to the bride’s favorite movie ” A Leauge of Their Own”, Amorology designed and created a custom Photo backdrop that read things such as “Play Ball”, “Safe!”, ”Knock it Out of the Park”, “homerun”, etc. We collected various props for guests to have fun with while getting their pictures taken. All of Nicole and Josh’s guests had so much fun with the backdrop and really got into character with the bats, baseballs and gloves!

As a late-night treat, Nicole and Josh wanted their family and friends to build their own ice cream sundaes! Brightly designed created a “Bases Loaded” sign for us that listed all of the scrumptious ice cream toppings! Between the cake, concession trays filled with goodies and the loaded ice cream station, there was no shortage of delicious and playful treats!

Halloween {Decoupage Lanterns}

Trick-or-treaters won't have trouble finding your house when you light the way with these festive jar lanterns...

A last minute project before Halloween on Sunday...why not?! Get in the spirit by making these cute lanterns—they're so easy that kids can help.

1. Choose jars in various sizes.
2. Brush a coat of decoupage glue and sealant, such as Mod Podge (available at craft stores), all over the jar. 3. Then cover the entire jar, including the neck and bottom, with a layer of tissue paper.
4. Slather the tissue paper with another layer of Mod Podge and wrap a decorative ribbon around the neck.
5. Print out the spooky and happy faces at tasteofhome.com/lantern (pdf), or you can design your own.
6. Cut them out and use more decoupage glue to affix them on the jar.
7. Insert a tea light candle, and you've got a Halloween decoration that will outlast any pumpkin.

This is an all time classic at my house around Halloween, so I thought why not use it as a theme for a kid-friendly Halloween party.

I was inspired by the actual party scene in the movie.

{Decor}

- Pumpkins, pumpkins, and more pumpkins. There are so many free templates you can download off the Internet to create the Peanut character of your choice on your pumpkin.

- Hang adorable pumpkin lanterns and even add orange and black streamers.

- Take clip art of the Peanut characters to a copy shop where they can make you large card board stand-ups.

- Welcome your guests with a sign that says "Great Pumpkin Welcome Here!"

- If you are handy, build Lucy's Psychiatric Booth for an added prop.

- Dress up your lil' peanuts in a Charlie Brown inspired costume.

{Activities}

- Watch the movie- of course!

- Bob for apples.

- Have kids write letters to the Great Pumpkin on theme inspired paper.

- Carve, or paint, mini pumpkins.

{Food}

{Halloween Decor: Going Batty}

Cut pieces of wide black florist ribbon about 10 inches long and make a knot in the center of each piece. Attach adhesive googly eyes to each side of the knot and attach to a piece of wire.

{Halloween Decor: Boo Brooms}

Make your own letter stencils using contact paper. Adhere them to the flat surface of the broom's bristles, then fill in with orange spray paint. Lean the finished brooms against the fence in your front yard for a playfully scary message.

{Halloween Decor: Pumpkin Dress-Up}

These decorated pumpkins are simply smashing! To create some "pumpkin people" of your own, stack two to four pumpkins and press a 3/4-inch dowel through the center. Raid your child's costume and crafts bins for accessories you can use to glue or pin to your pumpkin people.

Do-It-Yourself Halloween Costumes

Whether your little one has dreams of becoming a chef or a zookeeper, these are easy do-it-yourself Halloween costume ideas he/she will love!

1. {Artist} Set your artistic creativity free by splattering and streaking paint across a plain button-down shirt to make a colorful paint smock for your favorite budding artist. Accessorize the outfit with leggings, tights, and a scarf, then tuck a variety of paintbrushes into pockets. Transform an empty paint can from the hardware store into a candy bucket with a computer-printed "I love art" sign attached to the side.

2. {Chef} With a dash of creativity and a sprinkling of fun, it's easy to whip up this chef costume for a boy or girl. Mimic the look of chef pants with patterned pajama pants and pair them with a matching T-shirt. Purchase a plain denim apron and decorate it with bits of jumbo rickrack, then spell out a saying such as "Yummm" on a plain chef hat using letters cut from adhesive-back felt. Accessorize the costume with a variety of kitchen tools, a rolling pin, a cleaver made from crafts foam, and a metal mixing bowl for treats. Toss in some faux vegetables to add to the recipe.

3. {Mad Scientist}Don't let the lab coat fool you -- this scientist is a mad man on the loose! It's simple to complete the Dr. Jekyll-like transformation by spiking up your trick-or-treater's hair with colored hair spray and giving him oversize black glasses and a loosely knotted tie to wear. Fill small plastic vials with colored water and slip them into the coat pockets to complete this experiment gone awry.

4. {Basketball Player}Be prepared to score big with this basketball player costume that's perfect for a boy or girl. Decorate a white tank top (such as a small men's undershirt) with iron-on number transfers on the front and back and add patch letters to spell out your child's last name. Team it up with athletic shorts, long tube socks, and a terry cloth headband and wristbands for a winning look. To make a basketball-theme treat bowl, embellish the inside of a plastic rust-color bowl with black electrical tape lines -- just remove the tape when trick-or-treating is over to use the bowl again.

5. {Rock Star}Nurture lofty dreams of singing stardom with a rock star costume made primarily with clothing found in your child's closet. Look for a black skirt or pants, black boots, sunglasses, and a few colorful or glittery scarves and belts, then add a T-shirt decorated with sticker gems and letters cut from adhesive-back felt. A play microphone adds the finishing touch: Purchase an inexpensive version found at discount stores, or make your own by decorating an empty paper towel tube with a glittered plastic foam ball, shiny paper, and sparkly gems.

6. {Beauty Queen}Straight from the runway to your front door, this beauty queen has been deemed "Miss Everything" by our judges. Make the upper portion of the "gown" by decking out a pink T-shirt with ribbon bows and arranging stick-on jewels around the neckline. For the bottom portion, fold two yards of tulle in half and sew the edges to a ribbon waistband. Cut wide ribbon and sew ends together at a diagonal to make the sash, and adorn it with letters traced onto and cut from sticky felt. Complete the ensemble with inexpensive purchased items including long gloves from a costume or theatrical shop, a dress-up tiara, play jewelry, and a bouquet of inexpensive silk flowers.

7. {Zookeeper}Need an idea for a costume you can make in nearly no time at all? Dig into your child's stuffed animal stash to create a clever zookeeper costume. Simple khaki shorts, a white polo shirt, a ball cap decorated with a "Zoo" label, and stuffed animals attached to the clothing with safety pins or hook-and-loop
tape are all that you need to tame this look.

8. {Scuba Diver}Help your little guy fulfill his dreams of underwater exploration with this imaginative scuba diver costume. Use swim trunks and a swim shirt as the basis for the outfit, then add on air tanks made from two empty 2-liter soda bottles, duct tape, and clear plastic tubing. Make the walking-friendly flippers with crafts foam, and add a swim mask wired with crafts-foam coral and fish. Download patterns for the flippers, fish, and coral and detailed instructions for the air tanks.

9. {Magician}Alakazam! No illusions are needed to create this show-stopping magician's costume. Boys and girls alike will love donning the sweeping cape made by joining black and red satin fabric panels with black iron-on hem tape at the neckline. Hot-glue playing cards to the inside of the cape and play up the trick factor by tying bright-color hankies or fabric squares together (not shown). Underneath the cape, a plain white T-shirt decorated with black buttons and a bow dresses up the attire. Finish off the costume with a stuffed bunny, and a magic wand made by painting a wooden dowel, and a black top hat -- which can double as a treat bag -- from a party store.

10. {Doctor}Even though going to the doctor might not be high on the list of fun kid activities, playing a doctor is always a hit. Make your child look like an official M.D. by decorating a plain white T-shirt and a small canvas bag (not shown) with a cross made with red electrical tape. Fill the bag with first aid supplies such as bandages, gauze, and cotton balls -- or use the bag as a spot for treats. Attach a small mirror to a headband and have your child wear a toy stethoscope to complete the uniform.

11. {Construction Worker}Hold on to your hard hat! This construction worker is ready to build and fix just about anything. To help your child get into character, simply cut off the sleeves of a bright orange T-shirt and spell "Men at Work" on the front of the shirt using iron-on letters. Write your child's name on the front of a toy hard hat, put washable tattoos onto your child's arms, and complete the look with a toy tool belt worn over jeans. A child-size toolbox is perfect for collecting treats.

Pumpkin {Favor Pouches}

For party favors or treats on Halloween night, fill crepe-paper pouches with tiny toys and candy.

To make a pouch:

Cut two 10-inch-diameter circles from orange crepe paper.
Stack circles and put goodies -- candy and small toys -- in the center.
Pull sides of paper up around treats to make a pouch.
Gather paper just above the treats, and twist a little.
Secure by wrapping green floral tape around the base of the twist, binding upward to create pumpkin stem.
If necessary, trim excess paper before binding.
Foliage curls can be made by wrapping floral tape around a pencil.

What a wonderful resource for those Bride's who can not envision how their day will come together. It is not only a wonderful tool for Bride's, but for us Wedding Planners. Visualizing the final look of my events is in my nature, but convincing Bride's to just let-go and trust that it will all come together is another story. Red is a color that you definitely expect to see at a Winter wedding...but what about using the color red in a Fall wedding? I happen to think that pairing red with a soft and natural color like latte makes for a truly special palette. I love the idea of using this palette for a Fall wedding out on the farm, or better yet an apple picking farm! I've always loved the idea of saying 'i do' in an apple orchard. I think the idea of sending guests home with burlap sacks full of apples with an apple pie recipe attached is just so charming or what about jars of apple jelly? Oh and who does not love the idea of adding a touch of wheat into bouquets, centerpieces or even place settings? Such simple yet charming ideas!
